Master's thesis analyses the implementation of Lithuanian e-voting options in the context of electronic democracy. In order to find out the reason of an online voting impossibility in Lithuania, there is given the analysis and systematization with the reference to Lithuanian and foreign authors’ of scientific publications and research results in the Lithuanian legislation, strategic plans, reports, international standards, EU Directives and analysis of Internet sources,. The analysis of data enabled to prepare the insight for implementation of Internet voting opportunities in Lithuania (SWOT analysis), where defined the problems of strategic directions related to the implementation of online voting. The main aim of this work was to carry out a research in order to find out if it is needful the replacement of traditional voting machinery to voting based on modern technology and whether the elections would affect the number of citizens involved in the implementation of electronic voting in Lithuania. The analysis has approved the hypothesis - the e-voting implementation in Lithuania is limited because of data security and privacy protection. Lithuanian Constitution states that voting should be secret. |
