Abstract [eng] Relevance of the survey. Unemployment is a reality in today‘s market. Employment competence (psychological and material expression) is undoubtedly meaningful because the individual must evaluate resources that he/she possesses (knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, values etc.); it is necessary to have enough abilities to anticipate various results of the alternatives; adequately it is important to react to the market‘s changes and to adapt to them; also the person must cope with problems caused by risks, uncertainty, coincidences and the permanent (but not fragmentary) actions. Therefore, it is important to mobilize all efforts getting ready to search for a job and for the employment conversation. The subject of the survey: Employment competence expression of unemployed people registered at Siauliai labour exchange. The aim of the survey: To estimate/reveal employment competence expression of unemployed people registered at Siauliai labour exhange. Methodology of the survey: There are some conceptions of the social sciences which are emphasized as the base of this methodological survey: the theory of the career competence, that emphasizes necessity to teach people how to develop their career as a coherently organized and manageable process (Herr, Cramer, 2003), the theory of the holistic idea of the career competence, that is based on the individual’s self-cognition, the relations with other people, self-help, the integrality of abilities, the attitude to herself/himself as to the professional (Stanišauskienė, 2000; Kučinskienė, 2003; Herr, Cramer, 2003). Methods of the survey: Analysis of the science literature, analysis of documents, the form survey, analysis of the statistical methods (SPSS 16 program), Windows Microsoft and Excel programs were used for the graphs and diagrams. The size and organization of the survey. 240 unemployed people registered at Siauliai labour exchange participated in the survey. The size of the mentioned unemployed people was chosen by coincidence . The conclusion of the survey. Results of the survey showed that there is low competence and the ability to adapt to the changes of the unemployed people registered at Siauliai labour exchange. Analysis showed that unemployed people have enough knowledge, but they are not capable to adjust that practically. However, unemployed people positively evaluate their readinnes to integrate to the job market. It is found, that attitude, personal characteristics, gained knowledge and amplified abilities, gained the formal qualification and hearded out courses about the arrangement, making more opportunities to become a competent individual integrating to the job market.
