Children's behavioural crisis-a serious social problem. It is obvious that this phenomenon is essential to address, clarify the causes and consequences. The object of investigation - optimization of crisis prevention and intervention in child care homes. The paper aims to assess the crisis prevention and intervention in child care homes and their optimization potential. The study was based on objective scientific literature, personal work experience in child care homes. The theoretical part of the paper shows the structural parts of the object: types of crises, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, teenage bullying, suicide and drug addiction. An overview of children in crisis prevention and intervention in educational institutions is done. Available experiences of foreign countries are described. Empirical data justified hypothesis that the children's home staff lack the knowledge and expertise on children's behavioural crisis prevention, intervention, and crisis effects. Children completed the 67 questionnaires and staff -45. Children are aware of what the authorities should go in case of emergency. Children also states that experienced one or other kind of violence and that the children's home territory is unsafe. Children's home workers, staff, feel that it is possible to reduce children's behavioural crisis in child care homes. They also point out that most of the staff does not have adequate expertise and skills to work with children's behavioural crisis prevention and intervention. At the end of the paper it is recommended to develop prevention and intervention programs and teams, to raise the skills of workers.
