The interlibrary loan in academic libraries promotes the quality of science and studies. The new form of interlibrary loan is – electronic document delivery. The evaluation of library is important measure for management. The libraries of Germany are good example of collaboration. The document delivery services are supplying inside and outside country. The publications to Lithuanian libraries are often supplying from Germany though the interlibrary loan service. The subject of the work is electronic document delivery. The purpose of this master work is to scrutinize the peculiarity of electronic document delivery in Lithuanian and German Academic Libraries. There were stated several tasks to reach the purpose of the work: 1. to traverse the interlibrary loan in the academic libraries; 2. to scrutinize the conceptions and systems of electronic document delivery ; 3. to make a research for estimating the effectiveness of document delivery in Lithuanian and German academic libraries; 4. to prepare guidelines for the interlibrary loan service in Lithuanian libraries. Two researches are present in this master work. They were handed in academic libraries of Lithuania and in academic library of Dortmund Technical university (Germany). “Interlibrary loan speed” indicator was used to make the research. The objective of this indicator is to assess whether the library is providing an efficient interlibrary lending service to its users. The scrutinity of electronic document delivery shows that electronic document delivery is electronic interlibrary loan and often faster document delivery. The copyright in Germany limits a little bit the service of electronic document delivery. But the example of Medea3 systems shows that can find right way to supply documents. It is important that the user in HBZ system can participate in all process of interlibrary loan. The main supplier of documents in Lithuanian academic libraries is SUBITO. The development of international interlibrary loan proves the function of libraries service provider. Master work consists of introduction, 3 main sections, finding, bibliographical reference listing, supplement. Master work could be useful for librarians, students and scientists of Library and Information Science. |
