Abstract [eng] In the twenty-first century Lithuania receives new learning challenges that open up new opportunities. Rapid change and purposeful regeneration in today's world is possible in assessing a human being as the most expensive assets and adequately making investments. The biggest role in the process belongs to education that protects, develops and transmits the values which make human life meaningful. Taking into account that lifelong learning becomes a necessity in the age of knowledge, the adult secondary schools occupies an important place in the context of continuing education. According to the statistical data it is obvious that the number of willing to learn is increasing. The requirements, standards, examinations in adult secondary schools are the same as in general education secondary schools. The research problem - What are the specifics of the educational activities in adult secondary schools and what are the specific features of continuing education in the institutions of this type? Hypothesis – Nowadays the high-quality continuing education model and technology in adult secondary schools reflect the specifics of learning adult contingent their distinctive features that distinguish this type of school from other institutions providing general secondary education. The aim - To investigate the peculiarities of adult secondary schools. The paper addresses the following questions: what factors encourage adults to learn, their expectations while learning at school, the difficulties faced by adults in secondary school, the most convenient training tools and methods, the approach to communication with teachers and evaluation of their learning.
