The master thesis sought to ascertain the problems and activities of Šiauliai city neighbourhoods and to design the improvement opportunities of neighbourhoods activities. In order to achieve this aim, opinions of Lithuanian and foreign scientists and practicians have been used, that contributed to identification and formulation of the cooperation practical and teoretical problems of municipality, city neighbourhoods, communities and business sector. Document analysis (classic content analysis) and individual in-depth interview (qualitative content analysis) allowed to evaluate the improvement opportunities of Šiauliai city neighbourhoods activities. The master thesis hypothesis, formulated at the beginning, has been proved: the effectiveness of activities organization of Šiauliai city neighbourhoods depend on the competence of neighbourhoods elder and the authority given from the government (municipality). The analysis of scientific literature ascertained that the questions of Lithuanian neighbourhoods management are the recent issue included in the list of research, therefore, there are a shortage of researches that analyses the problems and good practices of neighbourhoods. The collected data may be used to improve the activities of Šiauliai city neighbourhoods. |
