Abstract [eng] Despite the growing political interest in promoting the autonomy of older people, it is examined more from theoretical perspectives than from practical experience. The chosen study aims to analyse the autonomy of older people and the possibilities of promoting it, and to show how it is reflected in practice in the everyday life of older people in care homes. The research problem is clarified by the following research questions: How do social workers, nurses and relatives of residents conceptualise the possibilities of autonomy for the elderly in terms of the dimensions of autonomy, participation and dignity? What are the possibilities for improving the situation for residents of care homes to maintain their independence for as long as possible through a simulation game? The object of the study: The possibilities of promoting the autonomy of elderly people through the use of a simulation game in social work. Aim of the study: To explore the possibilities of promoting the autonomy of older people through the use of a simulation game in social work. 1.To conceptualise the concept of autonomy in the elderly by highlighting the content of the dimensions of autonomy, participation and human dignity, using an analysis of the scientific literature. 2. to provide an overview of the possibilities of the application of games in contemporary social work practice by applying the method of theoretical analysis. 3. using qualitative research methods and a simulation game to identify the expression of the possibilities of promoting autonomy in the dimensions of autonomy, participation and human dignity. 4.Using a qualitative content analysis approach, provide a framework for promoting autonomy in social work for older people, contrasting the conceptualisation of autonomy by social workers, carers and residents' relatives. 5.Based on the theoretical and empirical analysis of the research data, predict the possibilities of promoting autonomy through a simulation game. The methodological basis of the study is based on a humanistic approach, which emphasises the human capacity for self-realisation, and on a social constructivist approach, where knowledge is constructed in a shared social activity. Theoretical analysis method. Focus group discussion method (FGD), using a questionnaire with open-ended questions. In order to achieve the aim of the study, a simulation game was used to collect empirical data as a stimulating tool for reflection in the discussion process. Group triangulation was used to achieve a holistic understanding of the concept of empowerment. An inductive qualitative content analysis method was used to analyse the empirical data. The choice of participants was purposive. Three groups of six participants each were used: social workers, nurses, and relatives of residents. The main findings of the empirical study are: Self-sufficiency is treated as a continuous reflection of the lived period and is constantly changing. The use of a play-based approach in social work with the elderly provides an opportunity to improve the well-being of service users by improving the services provided and by emphasising the restoration and maintenance of the residents' autonomy. The expression of the possibilities for promoting autonomy is reflected in the dimensions of autonomy, participation and human dignity. The promotion of older people's autonomy depends on a cohesive, professional team, an organised workflow, properly trained staff, a safe and adapted care home environment that meets the needs of service users, and the development and maintenance of older people's financial literacy, taking into account their views and wishes. The concept of promoting opportunities for self-reliance through a simulation game offers a new perspective on the autonomy, participation and human dignity of care home residents.
