Abstract [eng] Today's world is characterized by an abundance of technology and software. The internet and real-time communication affect all areas of everyday life. These solutions are undoubtedly making their way into the education system, where they are having a major impact on established forms of education. In this field, it is no longer necessary to convince anyone that the boundaries of learning can be expanded qualitatively without physically leaving the current location. It is important to choose the right communication solution and make the most of its potential. This paper analyses the concept of real-time communication systems, theoretical assumptions, and models related to the application of these solutions in education. It analyses the features, functionalities, and theoretical possibilities of real-time communication solutions to determine to what extent they meet the requirements and expectations of the Lithuanian education system. The case study method was chosen for the research. In the practical part, two typical Lithuanian formal education schools are analyzed to cover all levels of formal education, from primary to secondary education.  The study points out that although the two schools have very similar strategic goals related to modern technologies, they demonstrate different approaches to the processes in practice. Alongside the analysis of the schools, the feasibility of applying real-time communication solutions in a specific lesson was also explored. While maintaining the integrity of the chosen research method, the situation is examined through the prism of one subject: mathematics. In parallel, examples of activities in the educational process in both types of schools are presented, together with recommendations for further development.
