Abstract [eng] In modern-day world, tolerance becomes much more important than ever before because this period involves economic globalization and quickly increasing mobility, intercultural communication, integration, interdependence, the large extents of migration. The growing intolerance to other and strife can cause danger to any region, particularly to that, where many people of different nation, race, religion exist. The problem of intolerance at schools is very relevant not only in the Western Europe countries including and Lithuania as well. The research problems, raised in this thesis, are: What are pupils' moral values?, Are pupils tolerant?, Are pedagogues tolerant and capable to present tolerance principles to pupils? Is it possible to talk about intercultural education, if the expression of tolerance is very low? The aim of the present paper: to reveal the expression of tolerance otherness and education in a secondary school as the assumption for international competence. The subject of the research: The expression of tolerance otherness and education in the secondary schools. The following objectives have been set up in accordance with the main aim: 1. To analyse the theoretical assumptions of tolerance otherness. 2. To analyse the assumptions related to education of tolerance. 3. To define pupils' tolerance otherness expression, and reveal pedagogues tolerance expression and education. 4. To substantiate tolerance of otherness as the assumption for intercultural competence. Research methods: descriptive rhetorical literary and documents' analysis, a questionnaire. The chosen question's form: open and closed questions.
