Abstract [eng] „PROJECT WORK IN INSTITUTIONS WORKING WITH MENTALLY DISABLED PEOPLE: STATE OF EFFICIENCY AND GUIDELINES FOR IMPROVEMENT“ This work analyzes the efficiency of the project work in institutions working with mentally disabled people. The object of this research is to estimate the project work efficiency by the directors of the institution and the parents of the mentally disabled persons. Hypothesis of the research: The project work improves the social functionality of the disabled people within and out the institutional bounds, however, the potential is not availed enough to increase the project work efficiency and also to optimize the social integration of the mentally disabled people. Goals of the research: 1. To examine the literature within the field of the problematic aspect. 2. To highlight the character features of the disabled people. 3. To emphasize the peculiarity and the importance of the project work for the mentally disordered people. 4. To characterize the organization of the work in the institutions for mentally disabled persons. 5. To identify the pecularities of the project work within the aspect of the attitude of the personnel, parents and directors. 6. To amplify the essential drawbacks of the project work based on the results of the research. 7. To formulate the recommendations for the project work improvement in the institutions working with mentally disordered people. Methods of research: Analysis of the literary material, theoretical modeling, questionnaire, comparative analysis, statistic processing of the research data. 123 respondents participated in this research including 6 directors and 35 employees of the institutions working with mentally disabled people and also 82 visiting parents. Results of the research: After analyzing the estimation of the project work efficiency state, it is perceived that the directors of the institutions for the mentally disordered people tend to assess the project work more like a qualitative form of occupation for disabled people than an additional financial basis or a motif for personnel improvement. In their opinion, this work has a possitive effect on the disabled people because it helps to feel more valuable in the society. Project work also helps to develop the cooperation among the personnel, gives more abilities, brings innovation and improves the work quality of the institution. In the estimation of the project work efficiency state, the personnel claim that during the project, socializing with a disabled person helps to reveal his personality and also helps to better understand his needs and wishes. The most valuable things that personnel can get participating in projects are knowledge and new ideas, which give competence and is also a useful experience. Parents also assess the project work efficiency state possitively and believe that this work incite the changes that are directly associated with the feelings of the disabled people, their desire to work and an inproved social functionality. According to parents, the best results by disabled people are achieved in local and regional projects. Personnel and directors also add that these type of projects are most suitable and effective for the institutions and disabled people as well. The comparative analysis of the project work efficiency state in institutions shows that the most possitive estimation about the project work is among institution directors because they see what real benefit is given to the their organization.
