| Abstract [eng] |
This study aims to find out if there is a link between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), attachment styles and attitudes towards love. The study included 344 respondents (37 men and 297 women) aged between 18 and 70 years (M = 35, SD = 11,15). The Childhood Experiences Questionnaire (Felitti et al., 1998; Dube, Anda, Felitti, Croft, Edwards & Giles, 2001) was used to ACEs, the Adult Attachment Scale (Collins & Read, 1990) was used to determine attachment styles, and the Love Attitudes Scale (Hendrick & Hendrick, 1984) was used to examine attitudes towards love. Results revealed that ACEs were correlated with avoidant and anxious attachment styles. The love attitude Eros was negatively correlated with ACEs, the love attitudes Ludus and Mania were positively correlated with ACEs, and the love attitude Agape was partially negatively correlated with ACEs. ACEs predicted an avoidant attachment style and negatively predicted the attachment dimension dependance. Anxious attachment style predicted love attitude Mania. |
