Abstract [eng] Research shows that delinquent adolescents have more pronounced features of psychopathy and borderline personality disorder. The expression of psychopathy and borderline personality disorder is associated with impulsivity and deficits in inhibitory control. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of psychopathy and borderline personality disorder in a sample of delinquent adolescents. In previous studies, the characteristics of psychopathy and borderline personality disorder expression were examined only in adult and non-delinquent adolescent samples. The instruments employed for the study included the following: the demographic data questionnaire; Borderline Personality Features Scale for Children-11 (BPFSC-11); Triarchic Psychopathy Measure (TriPM); Adolescent Identity Development Assessment (AIDA); Rule-breaking behavior was assessed utilizing the Youth Self-Report (YSR 11/18). The study involved 79 adolescents from various institutions: socialization centers, a youth school, a probation service, and an addiction center. The sample consisted of 25 girls and 54 boys. The age of the participants ranged from 12 to 17 years (M = 15.39; SD = 1.21). Boys and girls do not differ in the expression of borderline personality disorder. However, boys tend to exhibit a stronger trait of meanness, while girls show a lack of identity-consolidating emotions. The expression of borderline personality disorder in delinquent adolescents is positively correlated with psychopathy, especially with the dimension of disinhibition. Psychopathic and borderline personality disorder features are significantly associated with rule-breaking behavior.
