Abstract [eng] As the COVID – 19 rapidly spread through the world, one of the actions to suspend spread of the virus was restrictions of quarantine. Lithuania announced first quarantine on March 16, and it lasted till June 16 of 2020. Unfortunately, as the virus spread further, the second quarantine was announced on November 7 of 2020 and lasted till June 30 of 2021. Even though quarantine helped to suspend the spread of the virus, adolescents’ mental health was affected. However, there is a lack of research about unique experience of adolescents in first and second quarantine and what differences revealed on this period. A sample of 11 adolescents were included into analysis about the first quar- antine experience from grades 7 to 10 (M = 9, SD = 1,1), aged from 13 to 17 (M = 15,27, SD = 1,19). The same sample attended an interview about the second quarantine aged from 14 to 18 (M = 16,73, SD = 1,42) and attended grades from 8 to 11 (M = 10, SD = 1,1). An interview was made using Biographical Narrative Interpretative Method (Wengraf, 2008). The data analysis was carried out based on Braun and Clarke (2006) thematic analysis method. Three themes were generated to describe adolescents quarantine experience: Quarantine announcement: from unexpectedness to reconcile- ment (1), The search of basic psychological needs (2), After the quarantine: adaptation to a new reality and making sense of the experience (3). Results of the research revealed adolescents struggle in satisfying basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness) when the quarantine lingered and therefore adolescents felt disappointed in themselves, isolated, lacked motivation and energy. Social support, searching for internal control and making sense of the experience were im- portant coping mechanisms for adolescents.
