Abstract [eng] In the modern world, zoonoses are one of the most recent public health problems. The close and immediate relationship between animals and humans plays a big role in everyday life. Aim of the research – to evaluate epidemiological patterns of zoonoses in Lithuania in 2008-2021. Tasks of the research: 1. To describe the epidemiological patterns of zoonoses causing the high-est morbidity in Lithuania in 2008-2021. 2. To determine parents' awareness of food-borne diseas-es, which usually occur in children and adolescents. Methodology of the research: Descriptive statistical analysis of zoonoses causing the highest morbidity was performed. Data from the official statistics portal of the Lithuanian Statistics De-partment were used to calculate the indicators. An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted on Lithuanian parents' awareness of infectious diseases spread through food, which mostly occur in children and adolescents. Frequency tables were used to calculate response frequencies. The χ2 criterion and its number of degrees of freedom were used to assess the independence of attributes. Percentages are used to evaluate the statements presented in the statistical analysis. When testing statistical hypotheses, a significance level of 0,05 was chosen. Results: The highest incidence rate of salmonellosis was registered in 2008. (rate 113,1/ 100,000 inhabitants), decreasing morbidity was registered in subsequent years, except for 2011, increases in morbidity. 2008-2021 increased incidence of campylobacteriosis is observed in the warm season. When monitoring the seasonality of the incidence of yersiniosis in 2008-2021, an increased inci-dence is observed in the cold season of the year, and the lowest in the months of March and De-cember. Comparing 0-17 year olds and 18 and older persons and the incidence rates of 18 and old-er persons, incidence of listeriosis in the group of children in 2012, 2014, 2018, 2021, registered from 0,5 to 4,1 times higher than in the adult group. After analyzing one of the important state-ments of parents' awareness of food-borne diseases - hand hygiene - the main preventive measure against food-borne infections, reliable results were found. 45,3 % 31-40 years old, 24,7 %. 21-30 years old, 22,4 %. 41-50 years old, 4 %. 18-20 years old, 3,6 %. more than 50 years of respondents said "I completely agree" with the given statement. Conclusions: Campylobacteriosis incidence in Lithuania 2008-2021. multi-year dynamics are characterized by fluctuating morbidity. Campylobacteriosis remains the leading zoonosis in EU countries. Evaluating the dynamics of salmonellosis incidence among children and adults, the insidence of salmonellosis in the children group in 2021 is ten times higher than in the group of adults. Half of parents who took part in the survey agreed that it is very important to teach children to wash dishes and utensils and clean kitchen surfaces after preparing food. Key words: zoonosis, epidemiology, foodborne infections.
