Abstract [eng] |
Object of the Master’s thesis – data regarding admitted students, government funded students, graduates, number of permanent residents in the major cities of Lithuania between 2008 and 2021. Aim of the Master’s thesis – to complete comparative method of statistical analysis of student admission to higher education institutions in Lithuania. In order to complete it, 6 objectives were raised: firstly, to complete a comparative analysis of total government funded students against the number of admitted students total in the scope of Lithuania. Secondly, to carry out statistical comparative analysis of students admitted to Šiauliai University and Šiauliai College, Thirdly, to complete comparative analysis of students admitted in major Lithuanian cities against total Lithuanian students admitted. Fourthly, to divide students admitted to Šiauliai University, Kaunas University, Kaunas University of Technology and Vilnius University into two time periods, compare the averages of these periods and to calculate the empiric ratio of these averages; to find out which lines of data could be described with lines of time pattern. One of the goals is to calculate lines of time AR(1), AR(2), AR(3), AR(4) patterns and ascertain their suitability. And lastly, to complete Šiauliai and Klaipėda cities data blocks statistical analysis and compare them with each other. Results were gained in this Master’s thesis by completing the number of government funded and total students data analysis in the scope of Lithuania, and it was concluded that these numbers are decreasing similarly. The most significant diminution in 2009 and single increase in 2020. By completing statistical comparative analysis of Šiauliai University and Šiauliai College it was revealed, that in time periods of 2008–2014 and 2015–2021 average numbers have a statistically significant difference and empirical ratio of these averages shows that the number of the most gifted students is decreasing in Šiauliai University (0,27), and this decrease is milder in Šiauliai Colleges (0,47). By completing statistical comparative analysis of admitted students in major cities of Lithuania and total number of students accepted to Lithuanian higher education it was concluded that the most significant decrease of accepted students is most clearly visible in the Šiauliai City. By dividing number of students admitted to Šiauliai University, Kaunas University, Kaunas University of Technology and Vilnius University into two time periods (2008–2014 and 2015–2021) empirical average ratio of these periods was calculated which reveals a strong decrease of students in Šiauliai University (0,27), Kaunas University (0,55), average decrease in Kaunas University of Technology (0,7) while the number of students increased in Vilnius University (1,02). Lines of time patterns AR(1), AR(2), AR(3), AR(4) were discovered and dispersion estimates were calculated. As a result, it was concluded that, lines of time were described the most suitably in the AR(3) pattern. And finally, by completing Šiauliai and Klaipėda cities data blocks statistical analysis it was revealed, that Klaipėda city is 1,5 times more powerful in the academic level than Šiauliai city. |
