Aim: Assess the attitude of Lithuanian pharmacy specialists towards pharmacy public organizations. Objectives: 1. Assess the participation of Lithuanian pharmacy specialists in the activity of Lithuanian pharmacy public organizations. 2. To find out whether Lithuanian pharmacy public organizations have a positive influence on the pharmacy profession in the opinion of pharmacy specialists. 3. Determine the reasons why pharmacy specialists would be or would be not inclined to join organizations. 4. To find out whether Lithuanian pharmacy public organizations should be given public administration functions in the opinion of pharmacy specialists. Methods: Examined literature: scientific publications, articles, studies, legal acts, Lithuanian and foreign pharmacy public organizations, information provided by them. To conduct the research, survey was chosen as a social research method. Survey was conducted in Lithuania using an anonymous online questionnaire. Results: Almost all respondents stated that they do not belong to pharmacy public organizations and do not participate in their activities. According to thirteen respondents, who do belong to organizations, most positively evaluated organization – “Lietuvos farmacijos sąjunga”, least positively evaluated organizations – “Lietuvos farmacijos darbuotojų profesinė sąjunga”. Almost half of pharmacy specialists do not join pharmacy public organizations due to lack of interest or need, a third of pharmacy specialists simply do not have enough time. Participation fee had the lowest influence towards joining an organization. Two thirds of respondents think that more functions should be given to organizations and in their opinion, most appropriate organization to receive more functions is “Lietuvos farmacijos sąjunga”. Conclusions: 1. 90 percent of Lithuanian pharmacy specialists do not participate in pharmacy public organizations activities. Half of the pharmacy specialists, who do belong to pharmacy public organizations, also do not participate in pharmacy public organizations activites. 2. Judging by the opinion of pharmacy specialists, “Lietuvos farmacijos sąjunga“ have neiher positive nor negative influence towards pharmacy profession, „Lietuvos farmacijos darbuotojų darbo sąjunga“ and „Lietuvos vaistininkų sąjunga“ have negative influence towards pharmacy profession. 3. Lithuanian pharmacy specialists are reluctant to join pharmacy public organizations due to reasons such as lack of interest, lack of time or have not heard of pharmacy public organizations activities and their benefits. 4. After summarizing the results, it can be stated that, in the opinion of pharmacy specialists, Lithuania pharmacy public organizations should be given public administration functions. |
