Abstract [eng] In the master thesis, "Utopias Brought Down through Migratory Experiences: Representations of Liminal Experiences in the Novels of German-Speaking Authors of the 20th and 21st Centuries," the phenomena of migration and utopia will be analysed in the novels „Das Provisorium" ("The Interim") (2000) by Wolfgang Hilbig and „Ohrfeige" (" Slap in the face") (2016) by Abbas Khider. By conducting a comparative analysis based on the methods applied by sociologists and literary scholars, it is shown how the simultaneous analysis of both phenomena in literary works reveals how character's marginal experiences, such as feelings of otherness, abandonment, and not fitting in, opens a new perspective that allows us to look at these phenomena through the emerging lens of hope and the reason for its collapse.
