Abstract [eng] |
This paper aims to assess the trajectories of emotional and behavioral difficulties from early to late childhood and compare them in relation to children's early self-regulatory abilities and mother-child interactions. The research used and analyzed data from three stages of continuous research on the factors of early self-regulation in children as well as from the additionally prepared and implemented fourth research stage. In this work, the data of 66 children (34 boys and 32 girls) aged 4 to 13 and their mothers were analyzed in this work. Results showed that greater emotional and behavioral difficulties were associated with more positive mother-child interactions, but not with early self-regulation skills. With the help of cluster analysis, trajectories of decreasing and increasing emotional difficulties as well as low and high behavioral difficulties from early to late childhood were distinguished. Children with high levels of behavioral difficulties had more positive early mother-child interactions than children with low levels of behavioral difficulties. |
