Abstract [eng] Maternity social insurance is a crucial area of social protection that encompasses individuals entitled to maternity, paternity, and childcare benefits as prescribed by law. This insurance is essential during the first years of maternity and parenthood. In the master's thesis, Lithuania's developmental and regulatory peculiarities are systematically analyzed, directly influencing the regulation of maternity social insurance, considering the provisions of international legal acts after the restoration of Lithuania's Independence. The thesis places significant emphasis on changes in legal regulation that would effectively safeguard the rights of individuals entitled to maternity social insurance. The master's thesis reviews issues related to the impact of economic crises and pandemic, cases of fraud, and gender equality regulation in the field of maternity social insurance. In analyzing these issues, the study relies not only on theoretical considerations but also thoroughly examines legal provisions and reviews court practices in fraud cases. In the context of gender equality assessment, international, European Union, and national legal acts are compared to analyze how these legal documents impact current relevance and challenges.
