Abstract [eng] |
This paper examines the relationship between the politics and morality in M.Oakeshott‘s political philosophy. As an important intelectual inheritance, the analysis of critique of political rationalism is presented, which allows for better understanding of politics and morality phenomena in M.Oakeshott‘s political philosophy. After the analysis of critque of political rationalism, main focus of the thesis – politics and morality in philosopher‘s works are investigated separately, showing the peculiarity of these concepts and their relationship. Unlike many of his contemporaries, M.Oakeshott suggests thinking about politcs not from top-down approach, when it is first decided what politcs ought to be and then reshaping society according to it, but from bottom-up perspective, which allows to avoid mistakes by exaggerating illusions regarding politics and provides better understanding of political reality. M.Oakeshott‘s idea of Civil Association is presented as a concept of politics, which corresponds to the human character and allows the creation of a moral relationship between the state and it‘s citizens, where personal autonomy is understood as a connection between politics and morality. The theories of morality and politics proposed by the author open up new perspectives to understand human beings and politics, but the complexity of man and political reality does not allow M. Oakeshott to avoid mistakes. |
