Abstract [eng] The object of this master thesis are internet memes which support and criticize the protest. The protests appeared between 2021. May 5 and 2021. September 15 Five different protests took place during this period. The aim of the work is to analyse how internet memes are used in the communication of modern protests and counter-protests in Lithuania. In this master thesis I have to formulate a theoretical approach to the analysis of internet memes, which will help to understand online memes in protest communication; Critically evaluate the cases of political and protest communication of internet memes; To form a methodology suitable for researching Lithuanian online protests of protest and counter-protest; To investigate Lithuanian internet memes of protests and counter-protests. In this work are checked these defensive statements: protest and counter-protest memes are dominated by delegitimization internet memes. Internet protest memes are dominated by disinformation. Most protesters create internet memes to delegitimize political actors, organizations, or decisions. Critics of the protests seek to delegitimize the leaders of the protest and the purpose of the protesters. Criticism is happening using humor, irony, and insults. Disinformation in internet memes could be found, but they do not dominate. Disinformation in internet memes were directed against the U.S. and NATO, as well as inaccurate information about political actors. Internet memes of protest denying the benefits of vaccines.
