Abstract [eng] „The peculiarities of relationship with authority and traumatic experience“, Lina Žalnierienė, Vilnius, Vilniaus University, 2022, 64 pg. During traumatic experience people encounter destructive external force, therefore, helplessness is suffered. It may effect a relation with authority, which is also characterized by greater power. No research has been done to explore the expression of relation with authority and traumatic experience. The aim is to disclose the peculiarities of relationship with authority after experiencing traumatic event. There were 87 participants 18 – 59 years old (M=34,55; SD=11,63), 90% women. 6 of them 21 – 54 years old (M=31,83; SD=14,69), 83% women participated in qualitative analysis. Scales (Relation with Authority, LEC-R, IES-R) and semi-structured interview were used while proportionating different methods of analysis. Correlation and comparison between groups were used as well as qualitative thematic analysis. The results show connection between anxious/ avoiding relation with authority and the symptoms of traumatic experience likewise lower self-worth. Contradiction emerged in relation with authority figures, whereas themes about self-doubt, insufficient emotional control, perception of self relying on other people in relation with inner authority was highlighted in individuals who suffered from traumatic experience. It was found that subjective experience of suffering presents as insufficient feeling of ability and a lac of safety. The study shows experience of trauma in relation with authority and poses a development regarding different types of trauma and effect of psychotherapy.
