Abstract [eng] Drawing on the intersectional feminist approach, this thesis explores the intersection of gender and disability in Gabriele Petkevicaite-Bite‘s texts. The thesis scrutinises how the interplay between gender and disability contributes to the oppression experienced by women. The ways in which oppression affects women’s lives and their social identity will be highlighted in the paper, along with the strategies of empowerment presented in Bite’s work. The theory of intersectionality will be applied to Bite’s autobiography to analyse how Bite’s non-fiction and letters demonstrate the connection between oppression and exclusion based on gender and disability. Bites’s awareness of social inequality enables her to reveal the situation of women during the First World War, and to analyse intersections between social categories and social dynamics in her short stories.
