This master’s thesis is an analysis of autobiographical writing strategies in the writings of Mindaugas Nastaravičius, a contemporary Lithuanian poet. Close reading approach is implemented to explore how autobiographical themes manifest in the poems and to describe the significance of the autobiographical pact. This study includes all of the author‘s poetry that was published up until 2018 (Collections of „Blotchy Eyes“, „Mo“, „Infinitive“), as well as the epitexts; the writings of M. Nastaravičius are analysed in relation to the autobiographical narrative, thus highlighting the authenticity of this author’s work within the field of Lithuanian poetry. Here we offer an argument that the works of M. Nastaravičius are authentic because of the autobiographical writing strategy; while the conflation of modified autobiographical experiences and cultural tradition is the basis of author’s writings. |
