Abstract [eng] The Master's thesis analyses the interaction of natural elements and characters in Robert Eggers' film „The Lighthouse“, highlighting their psyche as a key aspect of research. This interaction is first revealed by examining the cinematic expression of the film – the cinematic images and their connection. Using Deleuze's theory of cinema, the film discusses affection-images of the human face with perception-images of the natural elements. It shows how the close-ups of actors‘ faces are transformed, depending on the natural elements to which they respond. Moving on to the film’s plot, the story of the two main characters in the film is examined. Freud's psychoanalytic theory is used to understand their mental transformations. Because the characters have mythical prototypes (Prometheus, Old Man of the Sea), mythical intertexts and their transformations in the film allow us to evaluate the role of natural elements. Combining psychoanalysis and mythocriticism the interpretation of the film as a whole is provided.
