Abstract [eng] This work focuses on the instrumentalisation of migration and its impact on the adoption and dissemination of norms, on the socio-political, legal-territorial and international aspects of the state. Theoretically, the thesis contributes to the theory of migration instrumentalisation by extending the dynamics of actor interactions and the application of the hypocrisy costs. It is argued that adherence to endogenous and exogenous norms does not only depend on the type of political regime, but can be externalized or simply transferred to another actor, thus diffusing the hypocrisy costs. Moreover, it is argued that in the face of this type of crisis, the deeper conflict in a society does not necessarily build upon the level of decentralisation or pluralism of the state as theorised, but may also be the result of the regime's historically developed relationship with certain social groups. Empirically, the thesis demonstrates the process by which Belarus generated crisis has affected EU, Lithuanian and Polish migration policies and societies. It presents the mechanism of the impact of the instrumentalisation of migration and highlights the problematic aspects of this crisis management.
