Abstract [eng] SUMMARY 91 pages, 19 charts, 24 pictures, 106 references. The goal of this master's thesis is to evaluate the efficiency of Lithuanian transport and logistics companies and the impact of external factors on the evaluation of the theoretical aspects of the evaluation of the efficiency of companies. The work consists of three main parts: literature analysis, research methodology and empirical research. Conclusions and suggestions are formulated. The literature review reviews the concept and importance of business efficiency. The main nonfinancial measures and financial indicators measuring the efficiency of companies are presented. The importance of the probability of bankruptcy in analyzing the efficiency of companies is analyzed. An overview of the Lithuanian transport and logistics sector is provided and the main elements of the sector are introduced. After analyzing the literature, the author conducted a semi-structured survey with experts. The main purpose of the survey was to identify specific and financial indicators that can be used to measure the efficiency of transport and logistics companies. Based on the selected indicators, the efficiency analysis of 8 transport and logistics companies was performed. Finally, the author performed a correlation-regression analysis in order to find out the impact of external factors on the most important performance indicator of the company - the net profitability indicator. The study revealed that the best non-financial measures for assessing the efficiency of transport and logistics companies are delivery time, loading and unloading cycle, transportation costs, cost per kilometer, number of damaged products and turnover rate. The most accurate financial indicators of efficiency are gross margin, net profitability, return on assets, debt-to-assets ratio, debt-to-equity ratio, total assets turnover and non-current assets turnover. Micro-enterprises are the most efficient and small are the least efficient. External environmental factors affect the efficiency of companies in the transport and logistics sector, which means that as they improve, companies operate more efficiently and otherwise. The conclusions and suggestions summarize the main concepts of the literature analysis and the results of the research. The author believes that the results of the study could provide useful guidelines for managers of transport and logistics companies who want to evaluate and improve the performance of their companies.
