Abstract [eng] The relationship between connectedness to nature, value identity norm theory and ecological behaviour in adolescents, Marija Liekmanytė, Vilnius, Vilnius University, 2022, 65p. Ecology is very important topic of today. Solving ecological problems is essential to protect our planet and its population. Human behaviour is one of the main causes of environmental problems. It is important to study this behaviour and find ways to change it. To understand the origins of environmental behaviour, the relationship between value identity and norm theory and connectedness to nature was investigated. There were 189 participants (101 women, 70 men and 18 participants, who chose “Other/I don`t want to reveal”), in this research. Their age ranged between 15 and 19 years old. Respondents completed online questionnaires assessing their connectedness to nature, values, ecological identity, ecological norms, and ecological behaviour. Results of structural equation modelling has shown that ecological behaviour of adolescents can be explained by the theory as well as the connectedness to nature. Connectedness to nature predicts biospherical values which presupposes ecological identity. Ecological identity leads to ecological norms in adolescents. By having stronger ecological norms people tend to behave in more ecological ways. These results lead to the assumption that by developing children connection with nature we can raise them as adolescents that behave in more ecological ways.
