Abstract [eng] During recent decades project management has emerged as effective method to manage organization and effective way to achieve strategic goals. At the moment there is a great number of different project management methodologies, the ability of adopting, implementing and using ever changing project management methodologies becomes essential for the project driven companies. The main purpose of this paper is to summarize different possible approaches in choosing project management methodologies, and to overview how this process is organized in Lithuanian IT companies. Two levels should be considered while selecting project management methodology. The fist level is defined as organizational level that takes into account strategic goals, project management maturity lever, culture and processes of the organization. The second choice of the methodology should be performed on project level to reflect specific characteristics of this project.
