Abstract [eng] Protection of Public Interest in Civil Procedure The protection of the public interest is a topic of public interest that must be effective for any human rights protection system. For this reason, the master's thesis delves into the current state of the public interest protection system in Lithuania, analyzes individual cases and the practice of adolescents. The first part of the paper is devoted to the concepts of public interest, which are an example of ambiguity and presentation of how the public interest can be understood both by the case law of the Constitutional Court and the courts of general jurisdiction. This section sets out, in essence, the different lines of interpretation of the concept of public interest. In the second place is an analysis of the protection of the public interest in civil proceedings, with a special focus on the prosecutor as an entity capable of defending the public interest and the court as institutions exercising legal duties in civil cases with a public interest. The limits of the prosecutor's rights are being deepened. Relevant recommendations of the General Prosecutor related to the public interest are analyzed, especially in cases when the prosecutor may refuse to apply to the court. Situations in which the court can be active are discussed, and it is clarified whether the necessary court action is justified in all cases. The third part of this work is devoted to the analysis of the problem of the effectiveness of the protection of the public interest, explaining the peculiarities of the regulation of the public interest by a foreign state. The opinion of scientists on the change of the public interest protection system in Lithuania is presented. Also, there are analyzing Prosecutor's strategy and review of activity reports in 2021-2023. The end of the work is intended to summarize the protection of the public interest in civil procedure, taking into account the peculiarities seen in the individual parts of the work. The conclusions are presented.
