Abstract [eng] The master’s thesis analyzes the preventive measures that are taken to prevent corruption in the courts. Among other things, the master’s thesis examines other aspects closely related to the aspiration of countries to prevent the spread of corruption. The first part of the thesis examines the concept of corruption. By presenting and examining several definitions of the concept of corruption, the most appropriate one is selected in the context of this master’s thesis. Corruption in the courts is considered a criminal offence, an abuse of rights granted or power entrusted to one for the benefit of third parties. Subsequently, the forms of corruption and the sanctions (criminality) that can be applied in case of non-compliance with the established legal norms are distinguished. The master’s thesis emphasizes the latency of this crime and the reasons for it. The second part of the work sets out the reasons for the emergence of corruption in foreign and Lithuanian courts. The third part introduces the institutions that make a significant contribution to the fight against corruption in the courts, ensuring that countries adopt the necessary legislation and anti-corruption programs. The last part, which shows that in the presence of corruption, the imposition of existing criminal and disciplinary sanctions is an insufficient tool in the fight against corruption. Therefore, the inadequacy of such measures also determines the development of anti-corruption programs. This section reveals corruption prevention standards abroad and their application in Lithuania. Analyzing the topic of the master’s thesis, the main preventive proposals of the Lithuanian National Courts Administration and the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania for the courts in the fight against corruption were revealed.
