Abstract [eng] |
The Research paper provides analyses on Vilnius, depicted in the literary works of Lithuanian writers of the generation of 50s, namely Antanas Ramonas (1947-1993) and Jurgis Kunčinas (1947-2002). The contribution of these writers to the revival of the urban literature of the second half of the 20th century was particularly great. The literary works of A. Ramonas depict a man walking in the town. The attention is focused on the old town of Vilnius, the geographic and topographic areas of which can be easily recognized; the visual urban experience is a characteristic perspective of the panoramic view; historical and sacral architecture becomes the most important feature shaping the aesthetic value of Vilnius. In the literary works of J. Kunčinas walking in the town is used as a technique to unveil the wonders of the town; the old town of Vilnius is the centre of attention; the author portrays the surroundings of Vilnius coffee shops of the 5th-8th decades of the 20th century; in literary works depicting the relationship with cultural realities of the late Soviet period nostalgic mood is replaced by distance and critical evaluation. The methodology of literary works is based on the theory of the book The Practice of Everyday Life of a scholar, anthropologist and philosopher Michel de Certeau that shaped productive and consumptive activity consisting of navigating everything from the town streets to literary texts. According to the author, walking in the town becomes one of the most important routine practices or the arts of doing combined with a realistic view of everyday experience. The same idea is expressed by a German philosopher, cultural critic and essayist Walter Benjamin who depicted a historical figure flâneur (a walker in the town, wanderer), who was walking and describing the town from his own experiences. The Research paper is also based on the method of universal phenomenology of a philosopher Edmund Husserl, which could be used for urban research studies of literary works. The focus is concentrated on the intentionality of consciousness and the conception and existentialism of the living world (German Lebenswelt). The Research paper conclusions are as follows: in the literary works of A. Ramonas there is a close relationship between the surrounding environment and the individual. Vilnius is depicted when emphasizing its sacral and aesthetic essence. On the contrary, in the literary works of J. Kunčinas Vilnius is portrayed as shabby and lacking its historical accuracy. However, an individual is trying to adjust oneself to the urban environment. |
