Abstract [eng] Too thick zona pellucida (ZP) is listed as one of the main reasons of failed oocytes fertilization. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of seasons, meteorological parameters, and lunar phase on the oocyte’s zona pellucida thickness, fertilization quality as well as the number of eggs obtained during assisted reproduction procedures and sperm concentration. Objectives: to measure the thickness of zona pellucida obtained and fertilized for assisted reproduction procedures by analyzing computer images, to collect data from the assisted reproduction register about ovarian fertilization, date of procedure, sperm concentration and use statistical analysis methods to estimate seasonal, lunar phase, average temperature, precipitation, and the number of sunshine hours impact on thickness of ZP, the quality of egg fertilization and sperm concentration. Measurements of zona pellucida thickness were made using NIS-Elements F software. Photo analysis was performed on 4977 oocytes. The mean ZP thickness was 19.28 ± 2.69 μm. The number of oocytes and the sperm concentration obtained in 1034 procedures were also analyzed separately. Statistical analysis showed that the thickness of the zona pellucida was statistically significant depending on the time of year, lunar phase, temperature, precipitation, and sunshine hours (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the type of fertilization depended on the phase of the moon, temperature, precipitation, and sunshine hours (p < 0.05), but did not depend on the season. The number of eggs obtained during assisted reproduction depends only on the seasons (p < 0.05) and does not depend on the phase of the moon, the temperature, the amount of precipitation and the sunshine hours. Sperm concentration during the procedure depended on the time of year, average monthly temperature, and sunshine hours (p < 0.05), but did not depend on the phase of the moon and the amount of precipitation.
