Abstract [eng] |
In this work, based on the theory of neutralization techniques formulated by David Matza and Gresham M. Sykes and the model of neutralization techniques proposed by Muel Kaptein and Martien van Helvoort, the neutralizations applied by women imprisoned for murder are analyzed. To answer the question of what neutralizations women prisoners use while explaining, justifying, or generally denying deviant behavior, qualitative, semi-structured interviews conducted with these women and experts during the study are analyzed. The conducted analysis singled out the variations in neutralizations applied by women concerning childhood experiences, the influence of deviant company and harmful habits, the relationship with the significant other, the evaluation of the work of pre-trial investigation and law enforcement agencies, and the overall relationship with guilt. |
