| Abstract [eng] |
Imprisonment is considered by many to be an inappropriate measure to reduce the risk of recidivism in convicts. The aim of this work was to reveal the links between recidivism and imprisonment by analyzing the peculiarities of correctional measures (social rehabilitation, occupational possibilities) and conditions of imprisonment applied in Lithuanian correctional institutions. The empirical study was aimed to analyze the experiences of people serving a custodial sentence, which helped to reveal that the influence of informal subcultures, lack of interactions with family, and not prospective occupational opportunities are factors that determine the risk of recidivism during imprisonment. |
