Abstract [eng] |
In contemporary art, experience connected to questions about religion, religiousness, are brought to our attention as something to which we aught to have a reflexive attitude. From that follows the fact that the connection between art and religion is comprehended as an object of a dialogue. The task of this work is to put into question this kind of attitude towards religion. For this purpose, we investigate the role of a chapel in the work of Mindaugas Navakas called “Red”. In our investigation this art work is treated as if it were a projection of the weak thought, presented by Gianni Vattimo, in which contemporary art is comprehended as a victim of the death of art as well as its constituting element. We interpret the role of the meaning of a chapel by putting it into the context of the death of art as utopia, kitsch and silence, which lies at the base of a Vattimo's notion of nihilism. |
