The object of the study is the reflection experiences of music teachers. The following research methods were used: theoretical analysis of scientific, pedagogical, psychological, methodological literature and documents of the education system. Survey of music teachers using a qualitative type questionnaire was conducted. The research was carried out in March 2021, in which 10 music teachers of Šiauliai city participated. The aim of the interview method was to reveal what meanings music teachers give to reflection, what their personal reflection experiences were. After analyzing the scientific literature and conducting a qualitative type of research, the following conclusions were obtained: reflection on one's own experience is the essence of teaching / learning. The ability to think critically, analyze one’s experiences encourages students and teachers to become more actively involved in the teaching / learning process by anticipating and solving problems. Reflective learning is the process by which experience is turned into learning. Analyzing your experience, new meanings are discovered. Through reflective learning, one can monitor one's personal growth and find ways to improve the process of learning to learn. With the help of reflection, preconditions are created for reexamining the available knowledge, experience and striving to systematically improve the quality of one's professional activity. The obtained research data revealed that learning through reflection helps to learn and understand the meaning of learning. The application of reflection helps learners to absorb knowledge faster, to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, encourages them to take a fresh look at the knowledge they have and to strive to systematically improve the quality of their learning. The application of reflection in the professional activities of music teachers is useful because it provides an opportunity to creatively solve problems, analyze experiences, monitor students’ growth, enjoy their achievements, improve professional skills, and get to know students better. The study of music teachers' reflection experiences revealed the importance of methodically organizing reflection in pedagogical activities, applying various methods of reflection, as it helps to better experience the usefulness of reflection and reduces the risk of reflection rejection. |
