Abstract [eng] In many previous research, it is often recommended to analyze adaptation with several psychosocial factors to gain a wider perspective on what can affect adaptation in the first year in university. The aim of this study was to analyze what kind of different psychosocial factors can affect first year students’ adaptation in university. 204 (men – 64,7 %) first year university students ages between 18 and 34 participated in this study. The following methodologies were used: College Adjustment Questionnaire, neuroticism scale of the Big Five Inventory, Problems Experience Inventory, questions about Health risk behavior and Received Social Support. The results of factor analysis showed that first year students’ problems had a structure. Results of regression analysis revealed that psychosocial factors, like neuroticism, self-assessed health status, use of nicotine and social media usage could predict some elements of first year university students’ adaptation. It was also found that social support can be a moderator relationship between certain psychosocial factors and certain elements of adaptation.
