APPLICATION POSSIBILITIES OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS AND MODELS Donata VAPSVAITĖ Paper for the Master`s degree Quality Management Master`s Program Vilnius University, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Management Department Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. dr. D. Serafinas Vilnius, 2020 SUMMARY The final work consists of 60 pages, 18 tables, 11 pictures, 42 references. The aim of this master’s thesis is to present a model and recommendations for the opportunities, application opportunities and challenges of the circular economy by examining the concept, development opportunities and challenges of the circular economy. In order to achieve the aim of the final work, the following tasks have been set: 1. Analyze the concept of circular economy to assess their significance and importance in today's society. 2. Provide generalized principles of circular economy based on circular economy theory. 3. After conducting an in-depth interview with three different interest groups, to find out the main opportunities and challenges for the development of the circular economy in the field of agricultural activity in Lithuania. 4. After the second stage of the research - “ranking” to evaluate the relevance of opportunities, challenges and principles of the circular economy in the field of Lithuanian agricultural activity. 5. Using the method of synthesis to develop a model of opportunities and challenges for the circular economy and make recommendations. The subject of the final work is the field of Lithuanian agricultural activity. The following research methods were used for the implementation of the tasks: literature analysis, in-depth interview, ranking, synthesis, expert opinion compatibility. Analysis of the research results was done with Microsoft Excel. The structure of the final work consists of introduction, 3 parts, conclusions and suggestions, references and appendixes. The first part of the thesis presents the concept of circular economy, its evolution, the concept of circular economy principles and model features, based on the analysis of scientific literature and other documents of Lithuanian and foreign authors. The second part of the final work presents general theoretical possibilities of development of circular economy and theoretical interpretation of development possibilities of circular economy in the field of Lithuanian agricultural activity. The third part of the master's thesis presents the methodology of researching the opportunities and challenges of the development of the circular economy in Lithuania, analyzes the data obtained during the research, presents the research results and prepares the model of the opportunities and challenges of the Lithuanian economy. The conclusions summarize the data obtained from the analysis of scientific literature and documents and the results obtained during the research. The research and case study revealed the main opportunities of the circular economy, the challenges faced by the circular economy in the field of agricultural activity in Lithuania, and the principles of the circular economy that can bring the greatest benefit to all stakeholders. A business model of opportunities and challenges for the circular economy was prepared with suggestions and recommendations. Keywords: circular economy, environmental protection, agriculture. |
