Abstract [eng] |
By using neomarxist philosophy social art engagement in the discourse of Artūras Areima’s theater is being studied. The aim is to identify the concepts of engagement in meta-texts as discourse units and to consider the underlying assumptions, arguments, and relationships between these different concepts. It is claimed that there is a contradiction between its content and discursive practice in the discourse being analyzed. The content of meta-texts is dominated by the pedagogical conception of engagement, whereby the creator, who is interested in the freedom of the spectator, represents in his or her art ways in which it can be achieved. This concept is based on the premise of the artist as a producer of the meanings of the work. However, discursive practice reveals a wide variety of interpretations and interactions between meta-texts, thereby denying the status of the privileged creator and operating on the basis of the principle of dissension. It can be used as a basis for talking about engagement as the potential of the work itself and not as an artist's intent. |
