Abstract [eng] Findings in the scientific literature about the links between academic dishonesty, Dark triad traits and various moral components are controversial. The aim of this study was to generate a regression model being able to prognose academic dishonesty while taking into account Dark triad traits and Moral foundations. This survey was held on Internet and had 182 participants (62 males and 120 females) with the average age of ~25 years. Dark triad traits such as Machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy were measured by SD3 questionnaire. Moral foundations such as care, fairness, loyalty, authority and sanctity measured by MFQ (30) and academic dishonesty (behavior, acceptability and prevalence) measured by 12 dishonest acts list. Respondents also provided information about their work and study statuses, study period, income, grade point average and religiosity. The results of correlation analysis showed that academic dishonest behavior was significantly and positively related to its acceptability and prevalence, psychopathy, Machiavellianism and negatively related to care and fairness. There were no links between dishonest behavior and narcissism or the other moral foundations. Stepwise regression’s model showed that significant predictors of academical dishonest behavior were acceptance, prevalence, psychopathy, care, loyalty and authority. This study confirms that academic dishonesty of student’s behavior can be quite successfully predicted by taking into account personal traits, acceptability and prevalence of such behavior. It also shows the importance of Moral foundation theory in academic dishonesty context.
