Internet usage is so huge that most of the people cannot imagine their life and daily routine without it. Various activities on the Internet are more and more popular among children and teenagers and this can cause various threats. There are few questions related with Internet usage among children and teenagers: What are the characteristics of this usage? What threats children and teenagers using Internet can face? Can behaviour of parents and teachers might be related with safer usage of the Internet for children and teenagers? The aim of this paper was to evaluate the usage of the Internet among children and teenagers in Lithuania and to find out what are the connection between usage of the Internet among children and teenagers and support and control means used by of parents and teachers. 1012 children from 9 to 17 years old together with one of their parents participated in this research. All the participants filled questionnaires created for this research. Results were analysed while using strategy of correlational research. Results showed that the usage of the Internet is directly related with the age of children. What is more, this research also proves that support and control means used by parents and teachers can influence safer usage of the Internet for children. Finally, the research shows that stimulation of independant usage of the Internet might cause negative experiences for children. |
