Abstract [eng] In this paper we investigated the psychological perspective of change implementation in public institutions. The main obstacle trying to implement changes is resistance to change (Bolognese, 2002; Killian M. Bennebroek Gravenhorst, 2003; Stoškus ir Beržinskienė, 2005), and the best way to investigate the impact of change processes to humans is to analyze their emotional intelligence (Vakola M., Tsaousis I., Nikolaou I., 2004) that’s why we investigated the relationship between public institutions officers` emotional intelligence and their behavioral intention to resist to organizational change. To measure variables we used Bar-On Emotional Quotient inventory (EQ-i) and Bovey&Hede (2001) Behavioral intention to resist scale, adapted by A.Pundzienė (2002). 364 public institutions officers took part in research. 1) We established that participants with low behavioral intention to resist have higher scores on EQ-i than participants with high behavioral intention to resist. 2) Also we found the negative correlation between behavioral intention to resist and emotional intelligence components, such us self-regard, assertiveness, social responsibility, stress tolerance, flexibility, problem solving, impulse control and optimism; and emotional intelligence dimensions, such us intrapersonal, adaptability and stress management. When scores of these components and dimensions increase, the behavioral intention to resist decrease.
