The problems of strategic management of rural development processes in the territorial area are formulated, theoretical and practical surveys of rural development and strategic management performed by various authors analysed and systematized in the Master’s paper. The study of scientific literature revealed LEADER program implementation model to be one of the possible theoretical basis of the conception of rural development strategic management, introducing planning and management methods of local territory rural development processes as the subjects participating in the rural development planning and process management (Local Action Group and rural communities) and activities of Local Action Groups (comprises preparation and execution of rural development strategies). The performed empirical research proved that rural development strategies of Ukmergė district Local Action Group (LAG) have been prepared following the principles of cooperation among the representatives of local authorities, business and rural communities, continuity and consultations with local inhabitants. Therefore, development strategies distinguish for different strategic objectives, directions of strategic activities of the area development, revealing other directions of LAG activities. Creation of such strategies determines new, consistent and successive process of rural development in the area, contemplation of strategic visions and priorities, stability, inhabitants’ involvement in the participation of strategy preparation and activities of the area development. |
