Abstract [eng] Urgency of the study. Designing is acknowledged as an element of important life long learning strategy, therefore it is so important in the modern society and the career design is the final career designing result, the aim. Senior pupils (10th-12th forms) have to make their first career decisions, which though not final are important, because some area or at least direction for further career development has to be chosen. Subject of research: 10th-12th former career designing during the education process. Aim of the study: to study 10th-12th formers’ career designing opportunities in the education process. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature; questioning survey and analysis of its results. Set of the study: 182 respondents were questioned including 59 teachers, 56 10th-formers, 35 11th-formers and 32 12th-formers. Conclusions: Most of the respondents, both teachers and pupils, understand career designing as planning their future, seeking for one’s aim, however teachers describe education for career as professional information and assistance in profession selecting. The study disclosed that teachers are favourable towards integration of career designing into the education process. School approach of education for career is not widely applied, though those aware of it think that it is integrated into the subjects studied by teachers’ arrangement. Influence of teachers and pupils as education participants upon career designing is analysed, education process arrangement is used to establish that pupils are the most important participants in the education for career, teachers’ role is not so important, which shows that career designing in the education process is neither direct nor stressed, but it still remains significant. Pupils’ career competence analysis showed that personal competence education is important, though teachers stressed that they pay most attention at social and education competence development. Professional information and advising in making decisions about career are most important for both teachers and pupils. Unresolved or still in doubt pupils say this is due to lack of information. Teachers understand that pupils need assistance in making professional decisions. And the main ways inducing interest in and studying the subjects are the real life examples, experience sharing. Analysis of the pupils’ future plans lets us stating that education is important for the pupils as a warrant for future perspective.
