Abstract [eng] Master's final work focuses on analyzes of the countryside identity expression in Šiauliai region local working group's development strategies. The first part of Master’s final work contains examination of Lithuanian and foreign author’s insights on regional policy with an emphasis on countryside regions typology and reveals a sustainable strategic management features. Analysis on the concept of territorial rural development was performed: evolution of village development policy, territorial attitude aspects, countryside rural development scenarios and experience of LEADER community. Interaction between countryside’s identity and its development was explored and evaluation methods were estimated. The emporical part deals with the analyses of documents on LEADER methods implementation in Lithuania: EU guidelines, Šiauliai region local working groups establishment statistics within the timeline of 2004 – 2006. Local working groups prepared integrated pilot strategies. 2007 - 2013 m. funding of Šiauliai region countryside and factors of identity expression was assessed in detail. Within the margins of local development strategies, evaluation was performed on how the local identity is used for coherent development of local villages. Applicability of Šiauliai region countryside local identity in their sustainable development possibilities were defined and use of it in preparation of Local development strategies for 2014-2020. Qualitative data collection method was used: formalized interviews with experts and representatives of local working groups. Based on the analyses of the content of Šiauliai region local development strategies and countryside development territorial concept, instrument for this study was created - an interview questionnaire.
