Abstract [eng] Recently the importance of psychological well-being has been acknowledged, but there is a lack of data on schoolchildren’s psychological well-being, especially those living in Lithuania. The psychological well-being research situation and existing problems are reviewed and analyzed in the dissertation. It was aimed to determine the structure of psychological well-being, by distinguishing the points of differences and similarities between hedonic and eudaimonic approaches to psychological well-being, and to assess which sociodemographic and personality factors have the strongest prognostic value. The study results are based on the survey of 655 pupils from 21 Lithuanian general education and professional training schools. The results obtained suggest that the structure of psychological well-being of 14–19 year old schoolchildren has three components. The differences and characteristics of the psychological well-being of schoolchildren groups, composed on the basis of various sociodemographic variables (gender, age / grade, place of residence, family composition, economic resources, attendance of extracurricular activities), are examined, and the prognostic significance of the sociodemographic and personality factors are indicated separately for each component of psychological well-being in the empirical part of the dissertation. Both theoretical and practical significance of the results of the study are discussed.
