Abstract [eng] This Master Thesis encompasses theoretical analyses of self-determination factors, planning of professional career and its importance, discussion on what is the meaning professional self-determination, career choices theories. After analyzing theoretical part, opinion of pupils is evaluated, i.e. factors that determine their preferred choices when choosing career paths. Research is based on the anonymous questionnaire, from where analyses of factors that determine career path choices is conducted. According to the general conclusions recommendations for career planning consultants are provided. Research object: choices of professional career paths by the pupils of the pro-gymnasiums. Research goal: to identify main factors determining professional career choices by the pupils Research methods: Theoretical, which includes analyzes of the scientific literature that deals with the object of the research. Empirical, which includes using anonymous questionnaire, that was prepared for the pupils of the pro-gymnasium. Statistical, that encompasses calculations and presentations of the results of the questionnaire. Research sample and organization: research was conducted in December, 2016 in different pro-gymnasiums in Siauliai. Pupils of the 8th grade were chosen. Questionnaire was given to 150 pupils. The scope of master thesis – 52 pages, it encompasses 18 pictures, 6 tables, 1 annex. Bibliographical list includes 71 positions. The research revealed that the main inside factors the determine professional choices made by the pupils are self-interests, motivation, skills, competence. Respondents as the most outside factors indicated employment opportunities, labor market situation and its tendency, career and growth opportunities in certain areas.
