Abstract [eng] Master's thesis dealt with the press and television on high school students' vocational choices in Siauliai region. The work consists of three main parts. In the first one - analysis of theoretical factors influencing students' choice of profession. The second part of the work carried out on media: newspapers, magazines and television analysis of profession’s quote. The third part of the work – en empirical study of the press and TV impact on students’ profession chooses. Relevance of the research. Choice of career is one of the most pressing problems, the decision we make can predetermine personal, social welfare and growth. The problem of career choice is the problem of self-expression and self-realization, self-affirmation of certain activities and spiritual harmony. The person will find the work of inner satisfaction, love about the work and develop it, only when he choose the job which conform to his/her spiritual and physical abilities and inclinations. Object of research. The press and television impact of choosing profession. Hypothesis. It is likely that high school students interested in media (press and TV), what the advertising profession and it helps them to decide better what profession to choose. Aim of the research - to analyze the press and television information provided about the profession and its impact of high school students' career choice. The study included 200 Siauliai town and district students, which have already completed basic or secondary (gymnasium) schools, and went to study in any vocational training, high school or college. Instruments of the research: the press and television analysis, questionnaire survey. The research showed that not all youngsters are actively following the media. Most of the students in the press and on television pay more attention to the entertainment content, rather than targeted and useful information. There is too little direct information in media (newspapers and television) about the occupations of their opportunities. The research showed that the factors affecting students' choice of a profession are the parents' opinion, the financial opportunity, personal talents, friends opinion, and the media (press and TV) has very little effect on students' career choice.
