Abstract [eng] Master’s paper “Groups of companies: concept, types and the peculiarities of business regulation” deals with the issues pertaining to the phenomenon of the groups of companies, discusses the types of company groups, and the problems related to the norms of legal regulation of this phenomenon in accordance with the law of the companies of the European Community, legal regulation in Lithuania, and its shortcomings, concepts of law in some member states of the European Union with regard to this issue. Discussed in the paper are genesis and process of the company’s formation, general regulation aspects of companies and company groups, revealing prevalent trends and difficulties of regulation. Main principal issues of the regulation of company groups are analyzed. Conception of the group of companies is analyzed in the paper by looking into the main elements of the group: legal status of the entities comprising the group, control, and the group’s interests. Further studied are the key directions of the enterprise group regulation: protection of the interests of the shareholders’ minority, protection of creditor interests, bodies of company management, control, data publicity, consolidated financial accountability. Finally, associations of company groups, their monopolistic activities and their legal regulation are discussed as well. The above issues are analyzed in the paper also based on the evaluation of the provisions of the company law of the European community in the aspects of legal regulation existing in Lithuania.
